Peace Play in Urban Settings

Peace Play is a healing technique where individuals and families are invited to reflect on and express our own struggles and strengths without using words.

Through the use of miniature figures that represent the different parts of our lives, scenes are created in sand that help us put words to feelings and experiences.

*My approach is based on Sandtray-Worldplay Therapy, as developed and taught by Gisela S. DeDomenico, PhD.

Over the years, I noticed that traditional forms of therapy weren’t always accessible or culturally relevant to the survivors in urban communities. To address this gap, I modified a therapeutic technique explicitly for families impacted by murder. Peace Play in Urban Settings helps individuals express their struggles and strengths through experiential, creative play rather than through words. Since then, I and my staff have facilitated Peace Play for hundreds of people from every walks of life.

I was introduced to this concept by one of my spiritual advisors Reverend Michelle Walsh.

Peace Play in Urban Settings has transformed my life in ways that support my mind, my body and my soul because it is culturally relevant to my needs. Traditional talk therapy was not for me.
